MISSION: “Know it, Grow it, Show it”
v Discipleship: by planning and implementing settings in which children, youth and adults know and experience God as Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit; by nurturing them in growing a personal relationship with God; and by teaching and providing opportunities for sharing God’s love with others.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
v Oversight of educational ministries for all ages.
v Listen to God through worship, prayer, Bible study, and conversations with Christian friends to discern God’s call for our congregation.
v Listen to People in order to determine needs and to develop opportunities that help them strengthen their relationships with God and respond through Christian discipleship.
v Work with Council on Ministries to build and interpret a congregational vision for Christian education and formation.
v Assess needs, identify gaps, and set priorities for our congregation’s ministries as Christian formation.
v Plan and evaluate settings for teaching, learning and practicing spiritual disciplines for persons of all ages.
v Identify and equip effective leaders for each class.
v Identify needed resources for each group.
v Develop and administer the annual education budget.
v Develop a calendar of events and activities for which Christian Education Committee is responsible.
v Maintain Safe Sanctuary Policies
2009-2010 GOALS:
v Develop and execute four quarterly events for Children and Family Ministries
v Work through/with Race to Reach out techniques to grow program attendance and volunteer base
v Explore opportunities to begin Retiree and Young Adult Ministries.
