Summer Sunday School. Love children? Love God? Here is your chance to assist our BCUMC children in their growing faith. Sign up today to teach one Sunday of Summer Sunday School. We need volunteers for July. Easy-to-teach lessons with all materials and instructions Need some assistance? Ask Marge Kuykendall-she is ready to assist you in this wonderful opportunity!
Green Tip of the Week: From Dusk To Dawn. Watering during the cooler times of the day gives the water a chance to permeate the soil and be absorbed by the roots. Water thirsty plants longer but less often to encourage deeper roots and drought tolerance. Systems that deliver water as closely to plant roots as possible reduce evaporation losses up to 75%; among these are sub-surface drip irrigation, bubbler/soaker systems, trickle irrigation, and moisture sensors on sprinklers.
Amazing Grace Seminar. The next Amazing Grace Seminar will be held on Saturday, August 23, from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This class is the foundation study on being a United Methodist. We begin with God Is Love and end with a healing process as taught by Christ and supported by the Holy Spirit. This class is designed for the curious (who have no desire to join the church as this time), regular attendees and current members. It is also one of the first steps for those seeking membership into BCUMC. Breakfast, lunch and childcare (as requested) are provided. Mark your interest on the Presence Slip or contact the church office to sign up.
Prayer shawl ministry. Can you knit, crochet, quilt, or do another fabric craft? We’d love to have you join us in a prayer shawl ministry. A prayer shawl will wrap someone in love and prayer as they go through times of stress. Several of the shawls have already been given to people who need the God hugs. I will help with patterns, materials and the process. Please contact me if you have questions. (Joan Pierce, jpierce622@aol.com or 360.668.9691) Just remember, yours are the only hands Christ has now.
Taproot Theatre. This summer, get swept away by the exuberance and joy of the Tony Award-winning musical Big River. People of all ages will love this classic story of two friends, a raft and their quest for freedom on the mighty Mississippi. A journey into America’s spirit is at its heart. Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn runs through August 9. For tickets and information call 206.781.9707. www.taproottheatre.org
